For the second week running, the Bankstown Bulls have hobbled into the business end of matches lamely, this time allowing arch foes, Windsor, to roll them 26-18 and in the process, highlighting the Bundy Cup Bulls as this month's most glaring under-achievers.
Ahead 18-10, with twelve minutes left on the board courtesy of a fine move worked by hooker Brett Finn that saw an unstoppable Paul Winterstein celebrate his 150th game with what should have been an emphatic game clincher.
Windsor, however, had other ideas.
The Wolves loose limbed flyer, Anton Kui, already with a great individual try under his belt, split the Bulls midfield.
Downed by Bulls fullback, Dane Gilmore, Kui was quickly back to his feet to receive a clear passage to the line from centre, Dan Chiha who sucked in three defenders before feeding his winger.
Two minutes later, game- bogeyman, Hutch Maiava, monstered his way through some remarkably lame swinging-gate defence to claw back the Wolves lead with only seconds left on the clock.
Desperation was called for and Bulls half, Adam Tippet tried gamely to pull a rabbit out of the hat with a short restart, from which he collected an injury but was penalised, in his prone state, for a voluntary tackle.
From the touchfinder and ensuing confusion, Windsor produced the final coup de grace of the match via a Shennelle Houmono try that left the Bulls faithful flat, hoping to celebrate a real achievement for one of their club's most respected servants in Winterstein.
Windsor coach Trent Rosa was a relieved man after the match.
"Rapt with the effort," last year's premiership coach noted. "Any win against the Bulls is special but today we could have fallen well behind the pace with another loss so it'll give us confidence going up against Penrith next week".
Meanwhile Bulls coach, David Bayssari, has a job on his hands trying to pinpoint what ails his side at the moment.
Prop, Robert Worsley tried to give his team mates some consistent go-forward but platforming a win seems too much of an effort presently for the Bulls whose straight movement, ruck work and completion has taken a fortnight's holiday.
